One Of The Most Beautiful Vintage Watches We've Ever Seen

And We Know Nothing About It...

DESCRIPTION

Dunhill, known and stylized as dunhill, is a British luxury goods brand that offers a range of products, including ready-to-wear menswear, leather goods, and accessories. While Dunhill is renowned for its expertise in various luxury segments, its history in watchmaking is not as prominent.

The history of Dunhill watches can be traced back to the early 20th century when Alfred Dunhill, the founder of the brand, opened his eponymous shop in London's Conduit Street in 1915. However, it should be noted that Dunhill watches are not as widely recognized or as abundant as watches from other prominent luxury watchmakers.

For this reason, every vintage dunhill watch I've come across has been unique

and this one, is no exception... The salmon colored dial is absolutely beautiful, a popular color for the 1930's but in this case shape, it's incredibly rare. The arabic numerals are simple and purposeful. Their size is uncompromising and if the number doesn't fit, it doesn't belong on the dial.

It is so fascinating to me how the numerals are placed in a "11, 12, 1" and "5, 7" Configuration. It's unorthodox, to say the least but given the rectangular case, the reverso-like lugs, and salmon dial, It just fits so beautifully perfect. I'm personally in love. It's hard to see this one go but I do hope this finds a good home who will wear it lovingly.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The previous owner of this watch claims to have bought the watch off a watch vendor at a Las Vegas watch show in the 80's. He wore it sparingly, only for special occasions. We think it shows.

The case is in fantastic condition. Only hairline scratches all around the case. Based off the lightness of the dunhill insignia on the caseback, the watch has been polished multiple times in its life but was done professionally. No dings or dents to speak of.

The dial is the star of this show. Absolutely pristine! You might be wondering about the misaligned numerals and there is a very good explanation for that. Back in the radium usage days, most dials were painted by hand by dial makers. Even early Patek Philippe watches were done this way. When a dial is refinished, remnants of the past numerals could be seen using a jewelers loupe. No such discrepancy was found on this watch.
